ST. AGNES FOOD CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
2011-2012
The Food
Certificate Program is a fund raising program, which was instituted to
help keep tuition rates down. This program raises funds for St. Agnes
School without any additional costs to the school families. The way in
which the school receives funds through this program is not from any
additional payments from the school families, but from the stores from
which we purchase the food certificates. Since everyone buys groceries,
household items, and at times, prescriptions, what better way to raise
funds? Instead of purchasing your groceries with cash, you simply use
the food certificates. We know many families like to purchase their
groceries with a credit card or a check. Could you possibly consider
splitting some of these purchases by using the food certificates at
times and using your credit card or check at another time? This may be
a bit of an inconvenience, but isn’t this a worthy cause for our
children?
St. Agnes School purchases the food certificates at a discount from
various food stores such as Pathmark, Shop Rite, A&P, Foodtown, Kings,
and Stop & Shop. We sell the certificates to the school families for
the full dollar value of the certificates. So, when you purchase $100
worth of food certificates, it costs you $100, nothing more!
The amount of food
certificates which each school family is obligated to purchase for the
school year (12 months) will be $250 a month, beginning in July and
continuing through the last full week of school in June, or a total of
$3,000 per family for the school year. We know there are families, who
cannot fulfill this obligation, and we will certainly make exceptions,
but you must address this to the school office. You can purchase these
certificates as often as you wish, but we suggest you average your
purchases out over the 12-month period; this is only a suggestion. If
you sign up to participate and do not fulfill your obligation, we
reserve the right to assess the buyout fee indicated as follows:
-
$300 for NOT selling (but you must purchase the certificates)
-
$300 for NOT purchasing (but you must still sell)
-
$600 for NOT participating at all in this program (buying or
selling)
Remember that by
paying one of the penalty amounts, you get nothing in return for your
payment; just a cancelled check. You can’t purchase groceries with that!
Parents are
asked to sell the certificates after masses on Saturday evening or
Sunday morning approximately 4 times a year. You will receive a
schedule and a courtesy reminder call in advance.
Thank you for your
cooperation in this program that has been very successful!
